Halabja

I and my colleague Ala visited Halabja to meet with our partner organisation Amez and to visit some of the women who are taking part in Amez’ activities. We visited two villages outside Halabja, Ebabeylê village and Awaiy Rostem beg village. We really appreciated the meetings with the women villagers. The women in both villages have suffered from many years of oppression, war, chemical attacks, flight and life in exile. The whole community suffers from the traumas of war and conflict and the women, more than the men, have been deprived from education and work opportunities. The women in the villages expressed great interest to take part in more of Amez’ courses, both sewing courses and sport classes.

Stöd Kvinna till Kvinna! Vi stärker kvinnor i krig och konflikter för att kvinnors makt och inflytande ska öka. Ditt stöd är nödvändigt för att vi ska kunna fortsätta göra det.

  1. Hi!

Thank you for all the work and effort you’ve put in to help the women of Halabja and around Halabja! Everyday I get more and more proud to see my mother Awaz Daleni´s work all the way here from my college dorm in Sweden.

Tack till Kvinna till Kvinna för ert stöd till Amez!

  3. Hi :) Love the pictures and thank you for your work. I live in Sweden but orgianally from Halabja. I’m really happy that Amez Center is still running, because when my parents visited Halabja last year they couldn’t find the center. I might visit Kurdistan this summer and would like to know how and where I can visit the center. Maybe you could help me?

And one thing; the village outside of Halabja is called Ebabeylê :)
