Identifying challenges to long lasting peace – turning words in deeds, theory into practice and policy into implementation is exactly all about “Equal power lastingpeace” Conference
Very well-attended conference, good atmosphere, different experiences, interesting views, lot of truth, and vivid discussions on women’s participation in peace processes and what the EU can and should do!
We heard sentences like:
“lot of participants and only 2 women”
“beauty contest for women election candidates”
“at the end of the day is all about power”
“they told us to go home and take care of our babes, like we don’t have brain besides our uterus”
“there is nothing, nothing that can be done well without gender perspective”
“when you are in conflict you feel so lonely but then you read Kvinna till Kvinna report and realise how people all around the world face the same problem”
“question is who is not at the table?”
“EU delegations and missions must increase its efforts to protect women human rights defenders”
“If the EU is going to be an effective peace builder it needs to put women’s participation at the core of its strategies”
“women activists know how”
I am learning from this day, and everybody can from “Equal Power – Lasting Peace” report.
